This may come as a shocker to most of you users who use iMessage as your primary messenger, but I do not trust iMessage anymore(iMessage is generally secure if you are not paranoid). I’ll make this plain in simple why this has happened.
Apple claims that they cannot read iMessages, but in reality they hold our public and private keys , meaning that they can, in the real world, decrypt encrypted text messages sent over iMessage. Apple can also read iMessages saved in iCloud, so if iCloud is ever hacked say goodbye to all your private messages.
I have been using iMessage for over 5 years now and I have just learned this new information. I encourage our users out there to switch to a different messenger, perhaps Google Allo. In the eyes of the public, it appears Apple tends to fight for users privacy rather than giving in to the controlling forces, however everything may not seem as it appears.
“Treat your password like your toothbrush. Don’t let anybody else use it, and get a new one every six months.” – Clifford Stoll
The verdict: If you are paranoid about your messages privacy use a more secure messenger. If you are just using iMessage to get by and not taking any risks, iMessage is the perfect messenger for you.
